On October 23, 2003 I took enough pills to kill an elephant only to survive by a miracle that was God's intervention. Was I brain dead before or after I took those pills? I was predestined to attempt suicide so I would care about suicide. God knew I would write "Never Surrender Your Soul". Some of the reasons why I attempted to take my life included depression, unemployment, eviction and social pressures. A psychologist once told me that I had enough reasons but not to try it again. That must have meant I was a sane man driven to an insane moment by God when I took all those pills. I started writing a journal in July 2008 because of the continued absence of my daughter Amelia in my life and in January 2008 my best friend Adam died while under the influence of alcohol and drugs when his RV hit a utility pole. After the accident he was electrocuted when he stepped on a live wire and died a few days later. I have made many mistakes in my life that was the result of making the wrong decisions and bad choices. Take responsibility for the decisions that you have made in the past that have bought you to where you are in life. Find a way to live even if you did not get the proper guidance from your parents because you are the only one who is responsible for your own life and the decisions you make. You are not always in control of what happens to you, but you are in control how you react to it. The sum of your challenges, hardships, and obstacles can become your strength. You will not to be held captive by fear, anxiety or depression. No one can defeat you. You can only defeat yourself. You can allow your experiences to destory you or redefine you. Forget about whom you were; accept who you are, and who you can be. My hurricanes keep coming. I gain strength with each pearl of wisdom.
